For Roofing Sales Representatives ·
What you'll accomplish
By the end of this guide, you'll have Restoration AI set up to generate professional insurance supplement requests using industry-standard Xactimate codes — the purpose-built tool that roofing contractors use specifically for supplementing, rather than adapting a general AI tool. A supplement that once took 90 minutes now takes 15.
What you'll need
Go to restorationai.com and sign up for an account. You'll likely start with a trial or pay for the first month. Take the onboarding tutorial — it's short and shows you the key features.
What you should see: A dashboard with your account, a supplement template library, and a search tool for Xactimate line items.
Troubleshooting: If you're unsure about pricing or plan limits, contact their support team — they're roofing-industry specialists and can recommend the right plan for your volume.
Click "New Supplement" or "Create Supplement" from the dashboard. You'll be asked to enter:
Fill these in from your job file.
This is Restoration AI's core feature: a searchable library of pre-written supplement language. Type in the name of any item the adjuster missed — for example: "ice water shield," "starter strip," "ridge cap," "drip edge," "satellite dish," "skylight flashing."
What you should see: A list of pre-written supplement line items matching your search, each with proper Xactimate code, professional language, and justification wording already written.
Click the items that match your missed items and add them to your supplement request.
Most supplement tools let you attach photos to support your request. Export your CompanyCam photos (the clearest images of the damage items you're supplementing) and attach them in the platform. Adjusters are more likely to approve documented supplements with photos.
Click "Generate" or "Preview Supplement." The platform combines your selected line items, homeowner info, and a professional letter format into a ready-to-send document.
Review it carefully:
What you should see: A professional, multi-page supplement document with a cover letter and itemized line-item request in standard insurance industry format.
Download the completed supplement as a PDF. Send it directly to the insurance adjuster or submit it through the homeowner's insurance company's contractor portal (if they have one). CC your office manager and the homeowner.
